Key elements of the original regulation include:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>Rules<\/strong> for using suitable recycling technologies that meet Article 3 of Regulation (EC) No 1935\/2004 and ensure microbiological safety<\/li>\n<li><strong>Requirements<\/strong> for developing and using recycling technologies<\/li>\n<li>Procedures for the <strong>authorization<\/strong> of recycling processes<\/li>\n<li><strong>Establishment of an EU register <\/strong>for novel technologies, recyclers, recycling processes, schemes, and decontamination installations<\/li>\n<li><strong>Specific<\/strong> <strong>obligations<\/strong> for waste management operators<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since its implementation on October 2022, several technical and drafting errors have been identified. The correction confirms that the \u201ccurrent authorization holder of the authorized process\u201d <strong>must<\/strong> <strong>notify<\/strong> <strong>the Commission before any transfer<\/strong>, and that the notice must include the third party\u2019s contact details, since the original text did not clearly specify which operator had this responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Expanded_Requirements_for_Placing_Materials_on_the_Market\"><\/span><strong>Expanded Requirements for Placing Materials on the Market<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Under Article 4, the corrections adjust the <strong>list of requirements<\/strong> that must be met before recycled plastic materials and articles can be placed on the market. The updated regulation now refers to points<strong> 2 to 8<\/strong>, instead of 2 to 7. This ensures all intended conditions are captured.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conclusion\"><\/span><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Regulation (EU) 2025\/2269 has entered into force on December 3, 2025, twenty days after publication in the Official Journal. Packaging and recycling industry stakeholders should review the updated text to ensure their processes, documentation and responsibilities match the clarified requirements.
