European commision recently published the\u00a0latest amendment (EC) 1442\/2023 of legislation (EC) 10\/2011<\/strong>\u00a0regarding plastic materials in contact with food.<\/p>\n

This new change to the legislation comes as a continuance of the previous amendment in 2020 and the most important changes included can be seen below:<\/p>\n

– Certain\u00a0phthalates\u00a0<\/strong>(DINP, DBP, BBP and DEHP), which were already included in the “positive list” have now a lower SML value.<\/p>\n

– Furthermore, specific phthalates (DBP, DIBP, BBP, DEHP)\u00a0are also subject to a sum limit.<\/p>\n

– Substances with FCM\u00a096 (wood flour and fibers, untreated) and FCM 121 (salicylic acid) are excluded from\u00a0the positive list of substances.<\/p>\n

Plastic materials which enter the market\u00a0before 1st February 2025\u00a0<\/strong>can remain at the market until stock exhaustion.<\/p>\n

However,\u00a0the intermediate products, which are used to manufacture the aforementioned plastic materials\u00a0<\/strong>and contain substances subject to limitations according to this amendment, should\u00a0clearly state in their declaration of compliance (DoC) that they can be used in production until 1st February 2025.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
