nofollow\">updates<\/a> have been made to Annex 2, which governs the substances allowed in plastic materials and articles:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>Stricter Specific Migration Limits (SMLs): <\/strong>Lowered SMLs for hazardous phthalates, limiting how much of these substances can migrate into food:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Dibutyl phthalate (DBP):<\/strong> 0.12 mg\/kg (previously 0.30 mg\/kg)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP):<\/strong> 6 mg\/kg (previously 30 mg\/kg)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP):<\/strong> 0.6 mg\/kg (previously 1.5 mg\/kg)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>New Group Restriction No. 43: I<\/strong>ntroduces a combined SML of 0.6 mg\/kg for DBP, BBP, DEHP, and Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP), using a specified calculation formula.<\/li>\n<li><strong>DINP Restrictions: <\/strong>Prohibit the use of Diisononyl phthalate (DINP<strong>)<\/strong> in combination with DBP, BBP, DEHP, or DIBP.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Strengthened Group Restriction No. 26:<\/strong> Lowers the combined SML for DINP and Diisodecyl phthalate (DIDP) from 9 mg\/kg to 1.8 mg\/kg.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p
